A certain passion burns deep inside me. A dream that reoccurs and tugs at my conscience mind. For years, I have endured its stalking. I’ve suffered its ridicule the times I’ve failed to appease it. And now I stand, consumed by its everlasting flame. Eager to blaze my path without consensus or compass. No backup plans and no blueprints.
That’s right, fellow dreamers: No blueprints. Just nerve and a simple step of faith! Believing that step is in the right direction, and that my own good fortune awaits me. If there’s anything I’ve learned on my journey for success, it’s that what works for one person may not work for another. There are those who adopt blueprints and find success, and those who have been charged to draft their own.
But until you have a working prototype—that is, one which can be reproduced in certainty, not theory—do you even have a blueprint? Or is it nerve, faith, and trips back and forth to the drawing board? My own experiences have taught me the latter. Blueprints come with banker’s hours, and are typically deterrents against endless days and sleepless nights. I, on the other hand, have watched myself age through the reflection of my drawing board, and would have given up long ago if it weren’t for that burning passion. I’ve often wondered if it was a personal hell.
No rest for the weary, and certainly no blueprints…
For that which is normal is usually my torment. Speaking, and wondering if I’m speaking too quickly. Thinking, but perhaps too deeply. My dumbing it down raises the bar. Some people look at me and ask “why?” I look at them and ask “why not?”
I’ve come to realize that I’ve been searching for solutions, and not blueprints. Some people adopt them and others don’t. I’ve been told that nothing is new under the sun, for which I am grateful. It means my job is to simply reinvent the wheel. It’s a task I’ve always longed for, as my version will be much rounder.
Now more than ever I burn with my passion. What about you? Let’s step out on faith and blaze our own paths! Let’s write our own rules and let others follow suit. And when we have our prototypes; let’s pass them along to others.
Because for us, there are no blueprints.
This is your Monday Unleaded for the week of August 18, 2013. Have a productive week!
